Recorded and filmed on location at Iolani Palace, the ensemble performs some of the most iconic and loved songs that show the Queen’s artful songwriting and her love for her people. The songs featured include: Aloha ‘Oe, Nani Nā Pua Ko‘olau, Maika‘i Waipio (composed with her sister Miriam Likelike), Tūtū, Mu‘olaulani, and Ka Wiliwili Wai, as well as the poignant and powerful songs to her people composed during her imprisonment in Iolani Palace after the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom: Ku‘u Pua I Paoakalani, and Ke Aloha O Ka Haku (“The Queen’s Prayer”). The select songs were arranged for the Galliard String Quartet by Angel Matias Peña, Robert Cazimero, Byron Yasui, and John McCreary.
