Red Nova & Galliard String Quartet

Join us on May 10 for a unique collaborative event at Box Jelly with jazz trio RED NOVA and the GALLIARD STRING QUARTET where we will announce our 24-25 season lineup. Galliard will perform Shelley Washington’s Middleground recently heard on their Death & the Maiden concert in April, in addition to improvised musings alongside Red Nova. FREE EVENT with light refreshments and wine served.
Special guest, Billy Childs, will be in attendance.

RED NOVA’s creative jazz artistry captivates and engages the listener with unprecedented cascades of energy and resonance. Hawaii’s leading proponents of ‘Open Flow Jazz,’ The musicians of RED NOVA activate and enable this unique aesthetic, each spontaneously improvised performance eluding definition or replication. Its premiere album, Presence of Mind, is nominated in four categories for the upcoming 2024 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards.
Fueled by passion and sometimes coffee, the Galliard String Quartet’s romance for the music of Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Schubert and many others is unparalleled. Founded in 1982, Galliard is known throughout the islands for their uncompromising commitment to performing classical and new music of the highest caliber. All four members are members of the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra and are also seasoned teachers and music educators in the community.
